Foxconn Subsidiary Shunsin Pours 2.7 Billion Baht into Vietnam’s Thriving IC Market
Reuters reports that Shunsin Technology, a subsidiary of major circuit board maker Foxconn, is applying for a permit to invest $80 million (2,696 million baht) in a factory in Bac Giang province. The document also states that construction of the plant will begin in December. It will employ 1,450 people, including 35 foreigners, and all IC products made will be exported to the United States, the European Union and Japan.
Last June, Foxconn Singapore received a license to invest $383 million in a printed circuit board factory in northern Vietnam’s Bac Ninh province. It will have a production rate of 2.79 million pieces per year. And later in July, Foxconn Singapore received a license to invest $551 million (18,564 million baht) for a factory of intelligent entertainment products and intelligent system equipment in Quang Ninh province, northern Vietnam.
Foxconn first invested in Vietnam in 2000 and has invested more than $3.2 billion to date, with most of its factories located in the northern provinces of Bac Ninh and Bac Giang.
