Church in Gaza Allegedly Bombed by Israeli Forces, Raising Concerns for Christian Communities
GAZA CITY – A recent press release has ignited controversy, with claims that an Israeli military operation, referred to as “Tsahal,” directly targeted a church in Gaza. The association ”Work of the East” has voiced strong condemnation, stating that the action was “not justified by any strategic objective” and followed an attack on Taybeh by settlers, which reportedly saw no police intervention.
Pascal Gollnisch, the managing director of “Work of the East,” expressed deep concern to AFP, questioning Israel’s intentions towards Christian communities. “One wonders if Israel wants Christian communities,” Gollnisch stated, adding, ”We are awaiting excuses from the Israeli government.” The organization also reiterated the “urgency of a ceasefire and humanitarian access to protect the most vulnerable populations.”
these allegations come as the Palestinian Civil Defense reports a grim toll, with 25 individuals reportedly killed in Israeli strikes across the Gaza Strip on Thursday.
The situation highlights the precarious position of minority religious communities in conflict zones and underscores the broader humanitarian crisis unfolding in Gaza. The international community continues to call for de-escalation and the protection of civilians, irrespective of their religious affiliation.
