Frances Ulysse Named Co-Big South Player of the Week
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Longwood sophomore forward Frances Ulysse earned Co-Big South Player of the Week honors in women’s basketball, as announced on Monday.
Ulysse averaged 12.5 points and 8.5 rebounds during a week where Longwood finished 1-1. She scored nine points and grabbed a career-high nine rebounds in the Lancers’ 59-41 victory over American on Wednesday. This win marked Longwood’s first triumph against American since the 2006-07 season. It also marked the third time in the program’s Division I history that Longwood started a season with three wins in its first four games.
In a subsequent game against Georgia Southern, Ulysse achieved a career-high 16 points and made six field goals. Longwood lost that match 68-64.
This is the first weekly honor Ulysse has received in her career. Originally from Montréal, Québec, she is currently averaging 9.8 points and 7.6 rebounds per game, with a shooting percentage of 50% (17-for-34).
Longwood’s record now stands at 3-2. The team will compete again on Monday at 7 p.m. against Queens, available to watch on ESPN+.
