Francesca Maguina Joins Rice Women’s Tennis Team for Spring Season
Rice Women’s Tennis Welcomes Francesca Maguina to Spring Roster
Rice University women’s tennis team has announced the addition of Francesca Maguina to their spring roster. This brings the total number of competitors to nine for the upcoming season.
Head coach Elizabeth Schmidt expressed enthusiasm about Maguina’s arrival. She stated, “We are so excited for Fran to join our team. She has established herself as one of the best junior players in the world. She is hardworking and growth-minded. Fran will make a positive impact both on and off the court.”
Maguina hails from Lima, Peru. She graduated from Liceo Naval Almirante Guise. In her competitive career, she achieved significant milestones. She was a semifinalist in J300 events, a two-time finalist in J200 events, and a two-time Billie Jean King Cup competitor, holding a record of 4-5 in 2024. She achieved an ITF Juniors ranking of 77 and was the top-ranked player in both the Peruvian National rankings and the COSAT U16 rankings.
The Rice Owls will begin the spring season in January. The full schedule for the season will be announced soon.
