French actor and comedian Franck Dubosc has expressed deep regret over his involvement in the 2019 film All Inclusive
, a project that stands as a significant commercial disappointment in an otherwise prolific career.
The film, which was broadcast on TMC on May 1, 2026, was not only starred in by Dubosc but also written by him in collaboration with director Fabien Onteniente. Despite a substantial budget of 15 million euros, the production failed to capture the French public, recording just over 800,000 admissions.
A Lesson in Production
Reflecting on the failure, Dubosc admitted that the project suffered from a lack of preparation. In a 2021 interview with Télé-Star, he described the final product as a mediocre copy
, noting that the script had not been sufficiently developed.
“For what concerns All Inclusive, we didn’t work on it enough, we turned in a mediocre copy. Fabien Onteniente agrees with me. This experience has vaccinated us and will prevent us from doing just anything again.”
Franck Dubosc, actor and screenwriter
The film featured a high-profile cast, including Josiane Balasko, Thierry Lhermitte, François-Xavier Demaison, Mister V, and Victor Belmondo, but these names were not enough to propel the movie to the success seen in Dubosc’s other collaborations with Onteniente.
The Shadow of the Camping Saga
The failure of All Inclusive
was particularly stark when compared to the Camping
franchise. Each installment of that series has surpassed 3 million admissions, cementing the character of Patrick Chirac as a cultural icon in France.
The disappointment of the 2019 film initially led Dubosc to suggest that a fourth Camping
movie was not in the works. However, he later softened this stance, acknowledging the enduring bond between the series and its audience, stating that it would be difficult to completely close the door on the franchise.
This contradiction was mirrored by Fabien Onteniente, who previously told RTL that he was already preparing for Camping 4
, despite Dubosc’s earlier hesitation.
Career Peaks and Valleys
While All Inclusive
is a primary regret, it was not the only film in Dubosc’s filmography to struggle at the box office. Several other projects failed to reach the one-million-admission mark, including:
- Le Marquis (2011)
- Les Têtes de l’emploi (2016)
- Boule & Bill 2 (2017)
Despite these setbacks, Dubosc has maintained his standing as one of France’s most appreciated actors. He successfully rebounded with roles in Ducobu président!
and Chien et chat
.
His most recent critical triumph came with the film Un ours dans le Jura
. The project earned him the César Award for Best Original Screenplay at the ceremony held on February 26, 2026, in Paris, marking a significant professional recovery after the setbacks of the previous decade.
