29th United Nations Climate Conference (COP29) in Baku, Azerbaijan

Between November 11 and 22, 2024, the 29th United Nations Climate Conference (COP29) will be held in Baku, Azerbaijan.

The COP29 conference will be the largest annual meeting of the international community in its desire to take strong action against climate change. The 93 member states and governments of La Francophonie are stakeholders to protect their priorities in terms of mitigation, adaptation and mobilization of resources.

International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF) at COP29

The International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF) will be present to support the efforts of its member countries and partners, but also to promote its climate action.

Le Pavillon de la Francophonie

Under the theme “Climate solutions in French to save our planet, Le Pavillon de la Francophonie will present local and national French initiatives linked to the implementation of national commitments in the fight against climate change.

With more than 70 face-to-face and virtual events, the planned space will be dedicated to promoting the actions taken by member states and governments, the Francophonie activists as well as the OIF to support the efforts of those who speak French. It will also present the actions of young people and their mobilization in the fight against climate change.

Ministerial Consultation

On the margins of COP29, a ministerial consultation will be held on November 18, at 6:15 pm, in the Pavillon de la Francophonie, regarding “The French language in the service of increased access to climate finance”, in order to promote solidarity and relevant solutions and actions that reduce barriers to access to climate finance for member states and governments.

Francophonie Foundation for Sustainable Development (IFDD)

The Francophonie Foundation for Sustainable Development (IFDD), a subsidiary of the International Organization of the Francophonie (OIF), uses capacity building, information, consultation and support for sustainable development projects.
