Francie O’Connor: A Life Celebrated with Courage and Grace

Francie O’Connor, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on August 2, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.His passing, marked by courage and met with grace, leaves a profound void in the hearts of all who knew him. The tender care provided by the nurses and staff of the North West Hospice in Sligo was a source of comfort during his final days.
Francie was pre-deceased by his parents,Violet and John,his sisters Elizabeth and Ann,and his infant grandson,Evan. He is survived by his devoted wife, Kay, and their children: daughters Jacqueline, Rebecca, and Cathy, and sons Frankie, Colin, Danny, and Tony. His legacy continues through his daughters-in-law Karen, Jenny, and Chloe, and his sons-in-law Jason and Shane.
The joy Francie found in his family was evident in his many grandchildren: Amy, Ryan, Nathan, Reece, Oisin, Charlie, Kayleigh, Lucy, Jamie, Jayden, Shay, Jack, Donnacha, Finn, and Lottie. He was also blessed with a great-grandson, Caden.Francie’s life was further enriched by his brother John, his sisters Bridget and Maureen, and a wide circle of sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Francie O’Connor’s life was a testament to resilience and love. His family remembers him for his unwavering strength and the gentle spirit with which he navigated life’s journey. Reposing and Viewing
Francie will be reposing at the residence of his daughter Jacqueline and son-in-law Jason,located at Elysian Meadows,Summerhill,Carrick-on-Shannon (N41 PX88). The viewing will take place on Monday, August 4th, from 4 o’clock untill 7 o’clock. This will be an opportunity for those who wish to pay their respects and share their memories.
Funeral Mass and Cremation Details
The Funeral Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Joseph’s Church, Boyle, on tuesday, August 5th, at 11 o’clock. For those unable to attend in person, the funeral mass will be available to view live via the following link: Francie’s Funeral Mass.
Following the Mass, Francie will be cremated at Lakelands Crematorium, Cavan, at 4 o’clock.
