Forsyth, a ‍former Royal ⁣Air force pilot and investigative journalist, transitioned to become a best-selling novelist. His experiences covering international events, including an assassination attempt on French President Charles de Gaulle, fueled the plot of‍ The⁤ Day of the Jackal, published in 1971.The book became a hit and was adapted into⁣ a film in 1973, and later a TV series starring Eddie Redmayne.
