Synlab Oxabio is offering a week of free⁤ diabetes screening ⁤from November 14 to 20, 2024, across multiple locations in the Hauts-de-france region. This ⁤initiative ​aims to increase early detection of diabetes, a condition ⁢often described as “silent” due to it’s initially subtle symptoms.

Residents of Valenciennois can access this ⁢free ⁣screening at the Douchy-les-Mines laboratory, located at ⁢2, avenue​ Julien-Renard, on monday, November 17, from 7:15 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. No appointment is necessary.

Simple and Accessible Testing

The screening process involves a simple capillary blood sugar test performed via a finger⁤ prick. This⁢ speedy and painless ⁤method provides an initial⁢ assessment of blood glucose levels.

Individuals receiving results above established ⁢thresholds will be offered a follow-up blood test⁤ for more thorough analysis. This ensures those at‌ risk receive appropriate medical attention.

Regional Health Concerns

Hauts-de-France currently has the highest prevalence of ⁢diabetes ‌in​ mainland France, affecting 6.2% of the ‍population. Several lifestyle factors contribute to this increased risk,including physical inactivity,smoking,obesity,and hypertension.

This screening is open to‍ all adults, with the exception of‍ pregnant women and minors.
