Freie Universität Berlin Tops Germany for Humanities and Social Sciences Research 2024
Freie Universität Berlin is ranked as the best university in Germany for humanities and social sciences research, according to the DFG Funding Atlas 2024. Professor Günter M. Ziegler, the university’s president, praised the researchers for their outstanding work that led to this achievement.
The university also holds the distinction of being the top choice for visiting researchers in Germany. It attracted researchers supported by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).
The DFG is Germany’s largest research funding organization. It releases the Funding Atlas every three years to showcase funding figures for publicly financed research. The latest version, presented on November 25, 2024, marks its tenth iteration and features updates to its dataset and methodology.
