French beef is expected to be sold in Korea again after 24 years.
The French Embassy in Korea held a press conference today and announced that imports of French beef, which had been suspended in 2000 due to the outbreak of mad cow disease, could now be imported again.
In order for beef from countries with mad cow disease to be re-imported, the National Assembly must review the import sanitary conditions. After the sanitary conditions for beef from France and Ireland were passed at the end of last year, the remaining consultations were held and the necessary procedures for export were completed.
However, it is reported that the three supermarkets have no immediate plans to sell French beef, so it is unlikely to be supplied to the market immediately.
