joe Salisbury and Neal Skupski, the British doubles pair, have secured a spot in the French Open semifinals after a challenging match against Matthew Ebden and John Peers. The eighth-seeded team overcame the Australian duo with a score of 6-7 (4-7), 6-4, 6-4.
This marks a significant milestone for both Skupski and Salisbury, as it is the first time either player has progressed beyond the quarter-finals at Roland Garros. The pair, who joined forces at the begining of the season, are now aiming for their first grand Slam title together. Earlier this year,they reached the finals on clay courts in both Qatar and Barcelona.
Skupski’s success wasn’t limited to men’s doubles. He also advanced to the mixed doubles semifinals alongside his American partner, Desirae Krawczyk. They defeated the top-seeded team of Lyudmyla Kichenok, representing Ukraine, and Mate pavic from Croatia, with a score of 6-3, 6-4.
However, not all British players experienced the same success. Henry Patten and Finn Harri Heliovaara missed their chance to compete against Skupski and Salisbury in the semifinals.
