Glastonbury 2025 saw a mix of redemptive returns, breakout performances and headline-worthy moments on its first day.Among the highlights were Lewis Capaldi, CMAT, and The 1975.
Lewis Capaldi, after being unable to complete his set in 2023 due to Tourette’s tics, returned to the Pyramid Stage for a 35-minute performance. Capaldi addressed the crowd, saying, “Second time’s a charm on this one.”
CMAT, the Irish alt-folk-pop artist, delivered a memorable set on the Pyramid Stage. Her performance earned a five-star review, with NME praising her “full-band line-dancing, bum slappin’ moves and effortless crowd control.” the review further noted her confidence and carefree attitude.

Loyle Carner’s Other Stage performance featured guest appearances from Sampha on ‘Desoleil (Brilliant Corners)’ and Jorja Smith on ‘Loose Ends.’
The 1975, fronted by Matty Healy, headlined Friday night with their first and only gig of the year.Healy took the stage with a pint of Guinness and a cigarette, launching into a set that included a nod to the backstreet Boys and a possible tease of new music.

Healy addressed the crowd with wisecracks and urged fans to see Deftones and Charli XCX. He also spoke about the importance of love and friendship over politics.
“Second time’s a charm on this one,” said Lewis Capaldi, addressing the Glastonbury crowd.
