From Courtroom Dreams to Heavenly Gates: The Inspiring Story of a Young Girl’s Journey
11-Year-Old Shin Ha-yool Becomes a Hero After Donating Organs to Save Five Lives
An 11-year-old girl who dreamed of becoming a lawyer to help those in need has become a shining star after giving new life to five people through organ donation.
The Korea Organ Donation Agency announced on September 25th that Shin Ha-yool donated her heart, lungs, liver, and left and right kidneys at Konyang University Hospital on July 31st, saving the lives of five people.
Earlier, on July 25th, Shin Ha-yool suddenly collapsed, saying she was not feeling well. Despite being rushed to the hospital, she never regained consciousness and became brain dead.
Ha-yool’s mother, who was devastated by her daughter’s sudden passing, made the selfless decision to donate her organs in the hopes of saving at least a part of her.
Ha-yool’s mother expressed her wishes for the recipients of her daughter’s organs, saying, “I hope that the recipient of the organ transplant from the kind-hearted Ha-yool will also remain healthy and good-hearted.”

Born as an only child in Chungju, North Chungcheong Province, Ha-yool was an active and considerate child who enjoyed sharing even small things.
She had a kind heart and gave her mother, who was starting to run a pension, the money she had saved up since she was young.
Ha-yool was also an elementary school student who dreamed of becoming a lawyer to help people in need.
Ha-yool’s mother remembered her daughter fondly, saying, “She was a good child who would put food in her mother’s mouth first. I don’t know who she went to, but I hope she stays healthy with a good heart.” She also said her final goodbyes, saying, “I hope she thinks of you a lot in heaven, Mom. I’m so grateful that she was born as my daughter.”
