Oh Sang-wook Reveals Story Behind⁢ Whaling ‍Surgery on ‘Radio Star’

National fencing team member Oh Sang-wook shared the story ‍behind his ⁣whaling surgery on the‍ MBC TV entertainment show ‘Radio Star’ that aired ‍on the 4th.

Oh Sang-wook, along with‍ fencing athlete Gu Bon-gil, shooting athlete Kim Ye-ji, archery athletes Kim Woo-jin and Im Si-hyeon, and boxer Im Ae-ji, appeared on the show.

During the show, Oh Sang-wook said,‌ “I didn’t go in thinking about the gold medal, but I achieved the ‍Grand Slam. I won gold medals at the ⁢World ⁢Championships, Asian Championships, Asian Games, and the Paris​ Olympics.”

MC Yoo Se-yoon asked Oh Sang-wook if he had seen the​ numerous memes created about him⁤ after each match. ⁤Oh Sang-wook ‌replied, ‌”I’ve seen them.”

Oh Sang-wook also revealed that his fencing senior‍ Kim ⁣Jung-hwan had previously talked‌ about his circumcision surgery. Oh Sang-wook shared that Kim Jung-hwan had said, “When⁤ I saw your face, I thought ⁤of your‌ circumcision surgery rather than the reaction that you⁤ were cool after winning the Olympic ⁤gold medal.”

Oh Sang-wook explained that the surgery was “semi-forced” and that Kim Jung-hwan⁢ had ​taken him to get the surgery, promising ​to buy him pork cutlet afterwards. ‍This revelation​ caused laughter among the show’s guests.

MC Kim Gu-ra asked‌ if circumcision was a tradition among the fencing team. Gu Bon-gil replied, “I thought I⁤ should go to the sauna⁣ and work on teamwork. I ⁣told him to ‘get circumcised’ because I thought everything should be ⁢done the same ⁢way.”

When asked if the circumcision had helped, Oh Sang-wook jokingly ​said, “I guess it helped ‍a ‍little.”
