From Failure to Triumph: The Power of Rebound
Rebound: A Story of Perseverance and Teamwork
After finishing the midterm exams, I was thinking about what movie to talk about today when a movie popped into my mind: Rebound. It’s a movie directed by Jang Hang-jun that’s based on a true story about the Busan Central High School basketball team during the 2012 national championship.
“Rebound” is a technique to catch a shot that bounces off the basket, and I only knew it as a basketball term, but I had never thought about it deeply, but I thought a lot while watching the movie. This is because this movie depicts the story of the Busan Central High School basketball team that creates another opportunity when everyone says it is impossible.
High school students who catch the ball again after failing, that is, by rebounding, run again toward success in basketball and life. And these kids run together, not alone, to make the most of the opportunity they get from rebounding.
Even though we live hard, we must dribble diligently to grab the opportunity of a rebound in life. Let’s cheer on the rebound in life of our school children who are preparing hard for the second semester midterm exams to step into the world soon.
A rebound is a skill that allows you to get another chance to recover from mistakes and failures, and turn failures into success. Let’s never give up!
‘Yang Hyeon’, a public service worker who was a basketball player, is selected as the new coach of the Busan Central High School basketball team, which is on the verge of disbandment. Although he was a genius player in the spotlight, guard ‘Ki-beom’ is in a slump; all-round small forward ‘Kyu-hyeok’ who gave up his dream due to injury; center ‘Sun-gyu’ who was a soccer player with great jumping ability; power forward ’Kang-ho’ who has only played street basketball; ‘Jae-yoon’ who has only been on the bench for 7 years but is a perennial sixth man; and ‘Jin-wook’ who calls himself the Michael Jordan with full passion for basketball.
Even though it was a weakest team that no one paid attention to, the 8-day miracle that a new coach and 6 players created in the 2012 National High School Basketball Tournament When everyone says it’s impossible, we seize another opportunity called ‘rebound’.
