Nguyen Nam Bao Ngoc, a talented student from Ca Mau, has made headlines with her impressive academic achievements. Born in 2006, Bao Ngoc was the valedictorian of her English major at Phan Ngoc Hien High School.
Throughout her high school years, Bao Ngoc won numerous titles, including runner-up in the National English Speech Contest and a bronze medal in the 30/4 Olympic English Competition. She also holds over 30 certificates from reputable foreign language centers worldwide.
Despite her impressive achievements, few people know that Bao Ngoc was once a young girl with low self-esteem and a poor command of foreign languages. However, with the support of her mother and her own determination, she was able to overcome her struggles and achieve great success.
Winning Over Herself
Bao Ngoc’s journey to mastering English began when she was in the sixth grade. Despite feeling scared and struggling to understand the language, she persevered and eventually achieved great success. Her hard work and dedication paid off when she was selected to participate in an exchange program in the United States.
During her time in the United States, Bao Ngoc passed her English exam with honors and received a scholarship to Balboa High School. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, she had to return to Vietnam and continue her studies online.
Bao Ngoc’s experience studying in two schools, one in Vietnam and one in the United States, was challenging, but she persevered and continued to work hard. Her dedication to her studies and her passion for helping others eventually led her to establish a project to teach English for free.
Teaching English for Free
Bao Ngoc’s project, “English – It’s Here. The Origin of English is Here,” was established to support students who want to learn English but do not have the means. The project provides free online classes, and Bao Ngoc also sets up in-person classes in Ca Mau for students in difficult situations.
The project has been successful, with many students showing significant improvement in their English communication skills. Bao Ngoc’s dedication to helping others has also earned her recognition, including the “Youth of Beautiful Living Award” by the Central Vietnam Youth Union.

Bao Ngoc’s story is an inspiration to many, and her dedication to helping others is a testament to the impact one person can have on their community. As she continues her studies at two universities in Hanoi, she remains committed to her projects and volunteer work, living and devoting herself to her motherland.
