From Poverty to Triumph: Young Khaled’s Heart-Wrenching Story of Survival and Resilience
Cheb Khaled Opens Up About His Life and Career on MBC’s ‘Beit Al-Saad’ Program
CAIRO – Algerian Rai artist Cheb Khaled recently appeared as a guest on MBC’s popular program “Beit Al-Saad,” where he shared intimate details about his life, childhood, and rise to stardom with hosts Ahmed and Amr Saad.
During the conversation, Cheb Khaled revealed a surprising encounter with a famous Arab artist who criticized his reputation and questioned his international status. He recalled the artist saying, “You’re not an international artist.” Cheb Khaled responded by saying, “I advise him to look at social media to see if I’m an international artist.”
The artist also shared the secret behind his signature smile, which has become a hallmark of his career. “One must see what is behind the smile, because behind it is a man like any other man,” he said. “If we go back, I was in a sad night, and there were many things inside me, for example, I did not study music, but I play all the instruments.”
Cheb Khaled spoke fondly of his parents, recalling a poignant moment when his father apologized for disciplining him. “Sometimes I remember my father and mother, and I remember one time my father said to me, ‘Forgive me for what I beat you.’ It made me human,” he said.
The artist also reflected on the challenging days he faced before achieving fame. ”The days of poverty make you sad and stress yourself, but we eat bread and water, and you have to work and fight and do everything,” he said. “When I was young, I used to buy lemons, squeeze them, and sell them.”
Cheb Khaled’s experiences as a lemonade seller before his rise to fame taught him valuable lessons about perseverance and hard work. ”Poverty makes a person sad and depressed, those days were the best, and I was a man and a warrior, and I worked in many things, including selling lemon juice on the road,” he said.
