A Humble Beginning
Mohanlal recently shared an interesting anecdote about Sibi Malayil. In an interview with Kaumudi Movies, Mohanlal revealed that Sibi Malayil was the first director to reject him.
‘Sibi Malayil was the first person to say no to me in the film (laughter). I don’t say no, once for me he is the least marked director. But I have won the National Award for two of his films. He is a very committed director,’ said Mohanlal.
Reflecting on Devaduthan
Devaduthan, a 2000 mystery horror film directed by Sibi Malayil and starring Mohanlal, was met with a lukewarm response from the audience. Mohanlal shared his thoughts on the film’s performance.
‘When you talk about him, it is impossible not to talk about the film ‘Devaduthan’. Craftsmanship-wise, it was a very good film. However, if you ask me why it didn’t do as expected in the theatres, I can’t answer,’ says Mohanlal.
