From Hero to Villain: Sai Kumar’s Journey in Malayalam Cinema
With the massive success of Ramji Rao Speaking, Sai Kumar became a sought-after actor. He later shifted his focus to playing villainous roles and established himself as a constant presence in Malayalam cinema through various character roles.
One of his most notable roles was as Vasu Annan in the film Kunhikoonan, which garnered significant attention for his portrayal of the villain. Kunhikoonan was later remade in both Tamil and Telugu.
Sai Kumar on His Experience with Kunhikoonan and Its Remake
Sai Kumar revealed that he was approached to act in the remake of Kunhikoonan but declined, stating that he couldn’t replicate his previous performance. In an interview with Silly Monks Mollywood, he shared his thoughts on the matter.
After Kunhikoonan, I received calls from Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada film industries. However, I didn’t take up any of those offers. I believe that one cannot repeat the same performance again.
If I were to attempt to do so, it would never be the same. I was fortunate to have done it well the first time, either by the blessings of the Carnor or by the grace of God. It’s essential to strike while the iron is hot.
Sai Kumar emphasized that if he were to receive another opportunity, he would consider it, but only if it’s a significant role that would make a lasting impact.
