From Rejection to Triumph: The Unstoppable 4-S Journey to Success
Renovación Nacional Launches Proposals to Strengthen National Traditions
On the second anniversary of the Rejection of the constitutional proposal of the Convention, Renovación Nacional (RN) launched a series of proposals to strengthen national traditions and prevent what they call “the re-foundation of the country.”
Commemorating the Victory of the Rejection
The RN bench of deputies joined to commemorate the second anniversary of the victory of the Rejection of the proposal arising from the Constitutional Convention, introducing a multitude of projects to strengthen the protection of traditions.
Deputy Ximena Ossandón, leader of the bench, emphasized that the new Constitution seeks to improve the plurality and relevance of national symbols. ”Two years ago, Chileans stopped the destruction of Chile,” she said.
Stopping the Rejected Constitutional Project
Camila Flores expressed that the intention is to “stop every project, every idea that this Government intends to smuggle from the rejected constitutional project into our hands.” She emphasized that the Government has clearly shown that it has not renounced the ideas expressed in the first constitutional project.
Diego Schalper stated that the mission of RN is to “always defend freedom, always defend democracy and always defend that Chileans can choose the future of their children.” He emphasized that RN will remind Chileans that every September 4th, “we will never again in Chile give way to the renewal of the country.”
The Fast Track to Rejection
The aim of the initiatives to be presented in the coming days by RN is to change the name of the Metropolitan Region and rename it the Metropolitan Region of General Manuel Baquedano, in addition to “legitimizing” the national anthem written by Eusebio Lillo and Ramón Carnicer.
Along with this, the aim is to strengthen the penalties for violating the national flag, preventing situations like those committed by Las Indetectables from being repeated. Additionally, RN proposes establishing restrictions on the use and raising of foreign flags and perfecting the political system in order to ensure governance, through constitutional amendments.
Other projects that are already being processed in Congress include the National Service for Access to Justice and Victim Advocacy; adapting the School Grant to introduce changes in the admissions process to schools; the classification of the covert entry offence; the constitutional amendment that guarantees ownership of individual capitalization funds; declaring rodeo as a national sport; and toughening penalties for damage to monuments and public property.
