From Turmoil to Transformation: How Nouakchott-Sahara Media is Revolutionizing Gang-Plagued Neighborhoods
Nouakchott Modernization Project to Transform the Capital City
The Minister of Economy and Finance, Sayed Ahmed Abouh, announced that neighborhoods plagued by gang activity due to inadequate lighting will benefit from the Nouakchott modernization project.
The project aims to improve the city’s infrastructure by paving 173 km of roads in Nouakchott, including the maintenance of a 50 km ring road. This will facilitate the passage of trucks and commercial movements, enhancing the overall efficiency of the city.
Additionally, 70 km of Nouakchott’s interstates will be paved and lit, serving as vital links that connect all the states of Nouakchott. The 17 km road connecting the refrigerator with Nouakchott airport will also be expanded.
The project will also focus on establishing essential amenities, including 470 new educational facilities and 40 health centers. Furthermore, access to clean water will be provided in all parts of Nouakchott.
The Mauritanian government has allocated 50 billion to finance this urgent project, which aims to develop and modernize the capital city, improve living conditions for its inhabitants, and increase its appeal.
