Florida State University is prioritizing the recruitment of 2027 three-star cornerback Trenton Blaylock, a prospect from Texas who recently completed his first visit to Tallahassee.
Blaylock arrived in Tallahassee on April 3, 2026, for a multi-day trip that included a visit to the campus and the opportunity to witness a spring scrimmage on April 4, 2026.
During the visit, the cornerback spent a significant amount of time with head coach Mike Norvell and cornerbacks coach Blue Adams. Blaylock described the coaching staff as great, passionate people
and noted that the experience of being on campus for two days provided him with a surprising amount of new information about the program.
Defensive Scheme and Player Development
Blue Adams, who is currently in his first year with Florida State, is tasked with building the team’s secondary. Much of the recruitment focus has centered on how Blaylock fits into the 3-3-5 defensive scheme implemented by Tony White.
Adams has specifically highlighted Blaylock’s physical attributes and athletic potential as key reasons for the fit. According to Blaylock, the coach emphasized the importance of traits that cannot be taught through coaching alone.
He was talking about my measurables and like my speed, just like things that are like raw talents that you can’t really teach. He said that is what he looks for most when he evaluates his players is players that he knows he can develop and that already have the raw talent.

This focus on raw talent and long-term development is a central part of the evaluation process for the FSU secondary under Adams.
Positional Versatility and Observations
While recruited as a cornerback, Blaylock expressed interest in the safety position during his time at the spring scrimmage. He spent a portion of the visit observing the defensive unit as a whole, specifically focusing on how the players pursued the ball and created turnovers.

Blaylock closely watched the performance of safety CJ Richard, a former player from Dobie who attends a school located approximately 45 minutes from Blaylock’s own high school. Blaylock indicated that he is open to the possibility of playing either cornerback or safety at the collegiate level.
Prospect Profile
Blaylock is a 6-foot-1, 175-pound athlete from Atascocita High School in Humble, Texas. He was a productive player during his junior season, contributing to his three-star rating.
The Florida State Seminoles extended a scholarship offer to Blaylock on March 12, 2026, as part of their efforts to secure top talent from the Texas region.
