Fu Kunqi criticizes Hong Shenhan’s “high school graduation” Green Committee: money launderers have ruined the profession – FTV News
Political Report on Recent Labor Minister Controversy
New Labor Minister Hong Shenhan has faced criticism regarding his educational background. Fu Kunqi, the President of the Legislative Yuan and a member of the Kuomintang League, stated that Hong’s high school education reflects poorly on the country. Fu noted that even though Hong attended National Taiwan University, he did not graduate.
In response, Hong emphasized the importance of his experiences, which he believes give him valuable insights into the struggles of the underprivileged. He stated, “From a certain social point of view, my educational qualifications are not impressive, but my background shapes my perspective.”
The criticism drew reactions from other lawmakers. Lai Ruilong, a legislator from the Democratic Progressive Party, defended Hong, pointing out Fu Kunqi’s involvement in a money laundering case. He stated, “Those who have engaged in illegal activities should stop judging others based on educational qualifications.”
Lai Shibao, another legislator, argued that Hong’s experience in office is more important than formal education. He noted that many successful individuals, like Microsoft’s Bill Gates and Apple’s Steve Jobs, did not complete traditional education.
The controversy highlights ongoing debates about the significance of educational qualifications in political roles. As discussion continues, Minister Hong aims to advocate for the rights of workers and the underprivileged.
