Tropical Depression to Intensify into Mild Typhoon Putosang
(Central News Agency reporter Zhang Xiongfeng, Taipei, 15th) The Meteorological Administration said today that the tropical depression currently located near Guam is likely to intensify into a mild Taiwanese grapevine within 24 hours and has no direct impact on Taiwan.
Zhang Junyao, a forecaster at the Central Meteorological Administration, told reporters from the Central News Agency that the 16th tropical depression this year formed in the sea near Guam this afternoon and is likely to intensify into a mild typhoon within 18 to 24 hours.
Zhang Juniao noted that semi-typhoon Putosang is currently expected to be closest to Taiwan on the 19th, with locally short periods of rain in the northern and eastern half of the country and watch for the possibility of long waves.
Zhang Junyao said that tomorrow it will still be sunny and stable, and the high temperature will be around 33 to 35 degrees Celsius in different places due to the influence of easterly winds, and the local high temperature above 36 degrees will be possible in the northern and central and southern mountainous areas with local thundershowers in the afternoon.
Zhang Juniao also noted that humidity is expected to increase from tomorrow night to the early hours of the 17th. Locally heavy rainfall will occur over the eastern half of the area and the Hengchun Peninsula.
On the day of the Mid-Autumn Festival, Zhang Junyao said that the western half of the day will be sunny, and they should pay attention to the local high temperature of 33 to 36 degrees in Taoyuan and Hsinchu regions.
Zhang Junyao also explained that in the eastern half of the country and the eastern side of Greater Taipei, you may have to take the opportunity to enjoy the moon in the western half, and it may also be a moon in the clouds.
Zhang Juniao noted that from the 18th to the 22nd, Taiwan had localized short-term rainfall mainly in the northern and eastern half of the region and the Hengchun Peninsula.
Zhang Junya also reminded that long waves are likely in the coastal area north of the central part tomorrow, the north coast of Keelung, the eastern half of the coast (including Orchid Island and Green Island), Hengchun Peninsula and Matsu on the 19th and 20th.
Zhang Juniao said that next week, there will still be a large low pressure area east of the Philippines from the South China Sea, which is conducive to the development of a tropical system, and the meteorological administration will continue to monitor it.
