A series of low-magnitude seismic events rattled coastal regions of Venezuela during early October 2026, prompting monitoring agencies to track movements across Miranda, La Guaira, and Anzoátegui.
Seismic Activity Recorded Across Venezuelan Coastline
Funvisis reported two separate low-magnitude earthquakes occurring between the night of Sunday, Oct. 4, and the early hours of Monday, Oct. 5, 2026, along the coastal strip of Miranda and La Guaira states, according to La iguana TV. The first tremor struck at 7:10 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 4, measuring 2.7 in magnitude at a depth of 5.0 kilometers, with its epicenter located 39 kilometers northeast of Cabo Codera and 47 kilometers northeast of Higuerote in Miranda. A second tremor followed at 2:40 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 5, registering a magnitude of 2.5 at a focal depth of 6.7 kilometers, centered 6 kilometers northwest of the Los Caracas sector and 18 kilometers northeast of Naiguatá in La Guaira.
Caribbean Sea Tremors Tracked Through Midweek
Monitoring networks continued logging offshore activity into the middle of the week, capturing additional low-magnitude movements in the Caribbean Sea. Volcano Discovery recorded an unconfirmed weak earthquake measuring magnitude 2.2 on Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2026, at 5:03 a.m. local time (GMT -4), positioned roughly 40 kilometers northeast of Higuerote in Miranda state. That midweek event followed an earlier unconfirmed slight earthquake of magnitude 3.9 logged on Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2026, at 10:01 p.m., located about 60 kilometers north of Puerto Píritu in Anzoátegui state.
International Networks Register Unconfirmed Offshore Movements
While Funvisis provided verified instrument readings for the early October events in Miranda and La Guaira, independent international monitoring networks registered subsequent offshore movements that remained unconfirmed by official state bulletins.
