Partnership details and Key Personnel

The agreement was formally signed on October ⁣14, 2025, ⁣the‍ second day of⁢ AUSA 2025, by Sun Kim, Senior Executive Vice President ‍of Hanwha Aerospace, and‍ Dave Alexander, President of GA-ASI. Hanwha ‍Aerospace’s leadership and GA-ASI’s leadership have emphasized the strategic importance of ‌this ‍collaboration.

Under the terms of the agreement, both companies will collaborate on a GE-STOL demonstrator‌ aircraft. A maiden flight is currently scheduled for⁣ 2027,with initial deliveries to customers anticipated in 2028.GA-ASI confirms that prototype flight testing is already in progress.

GE-STOL Capabilities and Demonstrated Adaptability

The GE-STOL is designed to provide flexible, modular, ⁣and ⁢forward-deployable unmanned capabilities, operating effectively without relying on conventional infrastructure. This ⁣makes⁤ it particularly appealing to military organizations seeking adaptable solutions for‌ diverse operational environments.

The system has already demonstrated its ‌versatility through a series of prosperous trials. In November 2024, a GE-STOL demonstrator⁢ – designated “Mojave” – successfully took off and landed ‍aboard the Republic of Korea (ROK) Navy’s amphibious assault ship, ROKS Dokdo. Joint exercises between the US and ROK Navies highlight the increasing interoperability of forces.

Further demonstrating its adaptability, the GE-STOL has also been deployed from the ⁢Royal Navy’s ⁢HMS Prince of Wales and⁢ participated in live-fire⁣ testing at Yuma Proving Ground. ⁤ Earlier trials confirmed ‍its ability to operate from unprepared dirt strips. GA-ASI’s press release details the dirt strip ‍demonstration.

Strategic Implications and ⁤Market ⁤Outlook

This ⁢partnership signifies a growing trend towards international collaboration‍ in the‍ development of advanced unmanned systems. Hanwha Aerospace’s involvement brings notable manufacturing ‌and⁣ integration expertise to the project, while GA-ASI contributes its established leadership in unmanned⁤ aircraft technology.

The GE-STOL is expected to attract interest from militaries globally, particularly those prioritizing rapid‍ deployment, ⁢operational ⁢flexibility, and reduced logistical footprints. The demand for such capabilities is ⁢driven by evolving geopolitical landscapes and the⁢ increasing need for persistent surveillance and reconnaissance assets.
