Gabon’s Prosper Zo’o Minto’o Wins Election for Asecna Director General Position
Gabon has emerged victorious in the election for the position of Director General of the Agency for the Safety of Air Navigation in Africa and Madagascar (Asecna). Prosper Zo’o Minto’o, the candidate from Gabon, secured 10 votes in the second round, out of 18 voters, surpassing Burkina Faso and Chad, which received 4 votes each.
In the first round, Minto’o had already garnered 8 votes, ahead of Burkina Faso (4), Chad (4), Benin (1), and the Comoros (1). This achievement reflects the international recognition of Gabon’s expertise and vision in aeronautical management.
The Ministry responsible for Transport in Gabon has expressed its gratitude to all Asecna member countries for their trust and support. The Gabonese authorities had intensified their campaign in recent days, with Minister Dieudonné Loïc Ndinga Moudouma accompanying the candidate on trips to leaders in the Central African sub-region and beyond to promote his skills.
The election of Prosper Zo’o Minto’o by an absolute majority is seen as a “resounding victory” for Gabon, which is currently undergoing a transition period. The authorities are hopeful that the new Director General will proudly represent Gabon and meet the expectations of member countries in terms of regulating and controlling civil aviation on the African continent.
