At a time of radical change, in politics and technology, in culture and the natural environment, Gabriel Gatehouse approaches every conversation with an open mind and a critical lens,
BBC Radio 4 announced as the broadcaster prepares to launch the twice-weekly podcast Radical with Gabriel Gatehouse. Award-winning journalist and presenter Gabriel Gatehouse is stepping in as the new host of the program, bringing together thinkers, innovators, and heretics to examine bold ideas reshaping modern society, bbc.com reported.
Gabriel Gatehouse Takes Over BBC Radio 4 Podcast
The newly revamped podcast explores what happens when radical ideas collide with reality. Each week, the program questions whether these concepts and the people driving them can genuinely change the world, and whether those shifts will ultimately lead to better or worse outcomes. Episode one kicks off with activist and author Naomi Klein. Listeners can access the main show every Thursday on BBC Sounds, Radio 4, and the BBC News YouTube channel, alongside a bonus episode released the following Monday.
Behind the Bonus Episodes and Broadcast Schedules
The Monday bonus installment features Gatehouse discussing audience reactions to the preceding week’s radical idea alongside relevant historical context. The production team includes producer Simon Tulett and executive producer Sam Bonham, with Rhian Roberts serving as the BBC Radio 4 commissioner. Business as usual isn’t an option,
Gatehouse said, according to bbc.com. We need more radical ideas.
Previous Episodes Examine Drug Policy Reform
Additional coverage from podcastaddict.com highlights earlier discussions in the podcast series, including a September 3 episode titled Legalisation: Has The War On Drugs Failed?
That installment featured ex-undercover police officer Neil Woods speaking with host Jenny Kleeman about drug policy reform. Woods argued that his time infiltrating gangs convinced him that current drug enforcement causes more harm than good, advocating instead for regulated markets and cannabis, cocaine, and heroin distributed via prescription with age and dose restrictions.
