The transfer of the Bayern Munich star marks a meaningful move in the European soccer landscape, boosting Galatasaray’s attacking options.
Sané’s contract includes a guaranteed annual salary of €9 million ($10.4 million), along with a €3 million ($3.5 million) net loyalty bonus each season. He will officially become a Galatasaray player on July 1, upon the expiration of his Bayern Munich contract.
Before joining Galatasaray, Sané will participate in the Club World Cup with Bayern Munich. Bayern’s sporting director, Max Eberl, confirmed Sané’s availability for the tournament, stating that the club supports his decision to fulfill his commitments before the transfer. Bayern will face Auckland City, Boca Juniors, and Benfica in the group stage.
Sané, who joined Bayern in 2020 after a prosperous stint with Manchester City, expressed his gratitude to Bayern fans in a social media video. He acknowledged his five years with the club, highlighting the titles won and memories created.
“Dear Bayern fans, after five intense years here in Munich, I’ve decided to start a new chapter in the upcoming season,” Sané posted on Instagram.
During his time with Bayern, Sané secured four Bundesliga titles, two DFL-Supercups, one UEFA Super Cup, and a Club World Cup. He also previously won the Premier League title twice with Manchester City.
“It’s legitimate, and the fact that there’s no resentment is also shown by the joint decision that he’ll still be here for the group games and, possibly, the round of 16 at the Club World Cup,” Eberl said.
Sané has made 220 appearances for Bayern, scoring 61 goals and providing 55 assists. He has also represented Germany 70 times on the international stage.
