Galaxy Entertainment Chairman Lui Che-woo dies at 95︱Yahoo

Wah International (0173) and Galaxy Entertainment (0027) announced today (11th) that their founder and chairman Dr. Lui Che-woo passed away peacefully on November 7 at the age of 95. The Board of Directors expresses its deepest condolences on the passing of Dr. Lu and extends its deepest condolences to his family.
Lui Che-woo is the founder of Galaxy Entertainment Group. The company described his vision, outstanding leadership and guidance as the cornerstone of the group’s development and continued success.
Galaxy Entertainment Group became the first gaming company listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange in 2005 and was included in the Hang Seng Index in 2013. GEG stated that it will continue to operate its business in accordance with the business strategies set by the board of directors. The board of directors believes that Dr. Lui’s death will not have any impact on the group’s operations. GEG stated that it will appoint a new chairman in due course and will make an announcement regarding the appointment.

A search of the information showed that Lui Che-woo’s most recent public appearance was the visit of Chinese national athletes to Hong Kong for the Olympic Games at the end of August this year. The athletes stayed at a hotel owned by K. Wah, and Lui Che-woo personally greeted them there. On Lui Che Woo’s 95th birthday in September this year, his five children and others held a grand dinner, attended by many celebrities from different sectors such as politics and education.
According to Bloomberg data, Lui Che-woo ranks seventh on the Hong Kong rich list, with approximately HK$113.1 billion, ranking 168th in the world.
