The Samsung Galaxy S25 FE, intended to deliver a premium Samsung experience at a more accessible price point, has received disappointing camera performance reviews.Detailed technical testing reveals the phone struggles to compete with devices released years prior, particularly in mobile photography.
According to DxOMark’s testing, the Galaxy S25 FE achieved an overall camera score of just 118 points, ranking 123rd in thier global ranking as of December 24, 2025. This places it below the Apple iPhone 13 (released in 2021) and the iPhone 12 Pro Max, and marginally below the Google Pixel 6a, a mid-range phone from 2022.
Hardware Compromises Impact Camera Quality
The Galaxy S25 FE was designed as a more affordable alternative to the flagship Galaxy S25+. To achieve this lower price, Samsung made several hardware compromises. The analysis indicates these cuts directly impacted the camera system.
Unlike the higher-end models utilizing Snapdragon processors, the Galaxy S25 FE is equipped with Samsung’s in-house exynos 2400 chipset. Moreover, the camera hardware differs substantially from the flagship S25, contributing to the lower scores observed during DxOMark’s testing. These differences explain the performance gap.
The test results raise concerns about the S25 FE’s competitiveness in a crowded smartphone market. For photography-focused users, older flagship phones now offer a more compelling value proposition than this new “budget” model.
While software updates may offer some improvements, the underlying hardware limitations suggest the Galaxy S25 FE is not ideal for users prioritizing camera capabilities.
