carson, Calif. — The Los Angeles Galaxy, after finally securing a win to break a 16-game winless streak, will visit St. Louis City on Saturday, hoping to continue their momentum.The Galaxy’s role in the Western Conference standings is critical as they try to climb out of last place.
Los Angeles (1-12-4, 7 points) defeated Real Salt Lake 2-0 on May 31, ending a frustrating start to the season.Despite their position in the 15-team Western Conference, the Galaxy haven’t abandoned their playoff aspirations.
“I don’t see why we can’t get on a run,” Galaxy coach Greg Vanney said. “For us, as a group, it’s about learning how to win and getting across the finish line.”
Lucas Sanabria and Joseph Paintsil scored against Salt lake. The Galaxy’s defense also played a key role,despite being tied for last in the league wiht 36 goals allowed.
Vanney added, “I think more of the pieces are starting to come together.”
The Galaxy hope midfielder Marco Reus (thigh) will return after missing one game. Reus is tied with Diego Fagundez with three goals, trailing Christian Ramirez by one.
