Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 classic: First Impressions and a Dive into the Pool
Table of Contents
Samsung’s latest smartwatch, the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic, has landed, and we’ve had a chance too get our hands on it. While a full review is still in the works, we wanted to share some initial thoughts and a fun little test.
A Familiar Yet Refined Design
The Galaxy Watch 8 Classic continues Samsung’s tradition of offering a more traditional watch aesthetic, a welcome choice for those who prefer a physical rotating bezel and a classic watch face. This design language has always been a strong suit for Samsung’s “Classic” line, and the Watch 8 Classic is no exception. It feels substantial on the wrist without being overly bulky, striking a nice balance between style and functionality.
The Rotating Bezel: Still a Winner
One of the standout features of the classic line is its physical rotating bezel, and it’s back and better than ever on the Watch 8 Classic. Navigating menus and interacting with the watch feels intuitive and satisfying. It’s a tactile experience that many users, myself included, have come to appreciate.
poolside Durability Test
This past weekend, I took the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic for a dip in the pool. As expected, given its robust IP rating, the watch handled the water with no issues whatsoever. While this isn’t a groundbreaking revelation for a modern smartwatch, it’s always reassuring to see a device perform as advertised in real-world conditions.
Band Talk: Comfort and a New Favourite
I opted for the Fabric band with my Galaxy Watch 8 Classic, and it’s genuinely cozy for everyday wear. However, I have to admit, the Apple Watch Ultra has influenced my band preferences. I’ve become quite fond of the Alpine Loop style, and I’ve found some excellent alternatives on Amazon. I recently picked up a couple, and they are surprisingly solid. If you’re an Android watch user looking for a comfortable and stylish band, I highly recommend checking out thes Amazon options.
My Amazon Band Proposal
For those interested, I’ve found these bands to be a great addition to my smartwatch collection: [Link to Amazon bands]. They offer a similar feel and look to the popular alpine Loop bands and are a fantastic value.
