Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 vs. Galaxy Z Flip 6: Is teh Upgrade Worth It?
Table of Contents
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip series continues to redefine what a smartphone can be, blending style and portability with innovative foldable technology. but with each iteration, the question arises: is the newest model a worthwhile upgrade? This article dives deep into a head-to-head comparison of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 and the Galaxy Z Flip 6, examining everything from battery life and cameras to audio and overall performance, to help you decide if it’s time to flip the script on your mobile experience.
Samsung galaxy Z Flip 7 vs. Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6: design and Display
Both the Z Flip 6 and Z flip 7 maintain the iconic clamshell design that defines the series. The form factor remains largely unchanged, offering a compact and pocketable experience when folded. Though, Samsung has refined the hinge mechanism in the Z Flip 7, resulting in a noticeably tighter closure and reduced crease visibility. While the difference is subtle, it contributes to a more premium feel and improved durability.
Both phones feature a 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X main display with a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate, delivering vibrant colors, deep blacks, and smooth scrolling. The cover screen also remains similar in size, but the Z Flip 7 boasts a slightly brighter panel for improved outdoor visibility. The Z Flip 7 also introduces new color options, expanding personalization choices for users.
Battery Life and Charging: A Continuing Concern
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 didn’t exactly impress with its battery life from the get-go,and not much changed in a year. It dose offer good battery life, but not great. The Motorola Razr 50 ultra (aka Motorola Razr ultra 2025) easily wins in a direct comparison. We’re not expecting a major advancement from the Galaxy Z Flip 7 in that regard, in all honesty. it’s about time Samsung embraced silicon-carbon batteries like most of the competition.
There is also no improvement in charging speeds. both of these smartphones support 25W wired, 15W wireless, and 4.5W reverse wireless charging. The Galaxy Z Flip 6 can be fully charged in around an hour and 40 minutes, while we’re expecting that the Flip 7 will take even longer to charge, due to the fact it has a slightly larger battery.Neither phone comes with a charger in the box, by the way. This omission, while common in the industry, adds an extra cost for new users.
samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 vs Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6: cameras
Samsung didn’t exactly improve the camera hardware either. These two smartphones have the exact same cameras.A 50-megapixel main camera (1/1.57-inch sensor size) is backed by a 12-megapixel ultrawide camera (1/3.2-inch sensor size, 123-degree FoV) on the back. A 10-megapixel selfie camera (1/3.0-inch sensor size) sits on the phone’s main display. Samsung did boost the Fold 7 in that regard, but not the Flip 7.
Though, the Z Flip 7 benefits from the upgraded Exynos 2500 chipset, which brings improvements to image processing. While initial tests haven’t shown a dramatic difference, the Z Flip 7 demonstrates slightly better dynamic range and noise reduction, especially in challenging lighting conditions. We didn’t really manage to capture a lot of shots with the Galaxy Z Flip 7, but we are seeing some differences in camera performance already. The exynos 2500 is fueling this phone, not a Snapdragon chip, so that is to be expected. It didn’t impress thus far, not to say that the images are bad, but we’re not impressed. You’ll be able to read more about that in the upcoming full review, though. We need more data in order to say anything concrete.
The galaxy Z Flip 6, while it does a good job, cannot compete with the best cameras out there. The colors can still be a bit weird at times, and the same goes for Samsung’s image processing in general. It’s not the best camera for low-light either, and that especially goes for the ultrawide snapper on the device. The selfie camera is decent, but not much more than that. Both phones
