Updated June 10,2025
Samsung is teasing a new generation of foldable phones, promising its upcoming Galaxy Z series will be the “thinnest, lightest and most advanced” yet. This proclamation follows earlier hints of an “Ultra-experience” with a powerful camera and AI-powered tools.
The design appears to be taking cues from the sleek Galaxy S25 Edge, known for its slim profile. This also mirrors the approach of the oppo Find N5, previously touted as the thinnest book-style foldable when closed.Whether Samsung can surpass Oppo’s design remains to be seen.
Samsung stated in a blog post that user demand for easy-to-carry and easy-to-use foldable devices drives their engineers and designers to refine each Galaxy Z series generation, making them thinner, lighter, and more durable.
A slimmer design coudl particularly benefit the Galaxy Z fold, which some consider bulky. A thinner Galaxy Z Flip might also revive the appeal of classic flip phones, potentially surpassing even the modern Motorola Razr.
What’s next
The new Galaxy Z foldables are expected to launch this summer, with Samsung continuing to release teasers leading up to the official unveiling.
