Game Changer: Predecessor Smashes MOBA Stereotypes, Making it Easy for Newbies to Join the Battle
Breaking the Stigma: How Predecessor is Making MOBAs Accessible to New Players
At Gamescom, we had the pleasure of meeting Olivia Fajardo and Simon Hadasch, two of the great minds behind Predecessor. Their goal is to reclaim the legacy of Omeda Studios’ cancelled Paragon, and they’re excited to please both the current community and welcome newcomers.
MOBAs tend to have a reputation for being difficult for new players to get into. However, Predecessor is looking to change that. “We know that MOBAs have this genetic difficulty and complexity,” Fajardo said. “But beyond that, we also developed Predecessor with the console in mind from day one, so we understand that people don’t want to sit through every Wikipedia page.”
“Our goal is to make the entry level a little bit lower, especially for new players, and focus completely on getting into the game and understanding the map,” Hadasch added. “MOBAs themselves are already very complex, and then slowly but surely there is an opportunity to remove those automations alone and move to manual, and that doesn’t mean it has to be done all at once, it can also be just for badges, just for items, just for upgrade things.
Predecessor lets players learn the game little by little, applying the training wheels until you no longer need them. This approach makes it easier for new players to get into the game without feeling overwhelmed.
Predecessor is available now on PC, Xbox, and PlayStation. With its focus on accessibility and ease of use, it’s an excellent option for both new and experienced players looking to get into the world of MOBAs.
