Game of Thrones Actor Michael Patrick Dies at 35

Irish actor Michael Patrick, recognized for his work in Shakespearean theater and an appearance on the series Game of Thrones, has died at the age of 35.

His wife, Naomi Sheehan, confirmed the news via Instagram on April 8, 2026. She stated that Patrick, whom she affectionately called Mick, passed away on April 7, 2026, at the Northern Ireland Hospice.

Patrick’s death followed a three-year battle with Motor Neuron Disease (MND). He was first diagnosed with the condition in February 2023.

Motor Neuron Disease, also referred to as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) or Lou Gehrig’s disease, is a rare and terminal disorder. According to the Mayo Clinic, the disease impacts nerve cells within the spinal cord and the brain.

The progressive nature of the disorder results in increased muscle weakness over time. This eventually affects the patient’s ability to control their limbs, as well as their capacity for swallowing and speech.

Naomi Sheehan noted that Patrick had been admitted to the hospice 10 days prior to his death. She credited the medical team at the facility for their care and stated that he passed peacefully while surrounded by his friends and family.

In a tribute to her husband, Sheehan described Patrick as a titan of a ginger haired man and emphasized the positive influence he had on those around him throughout his life, both before and after his illness.
