Game of Thrones: War for Westeros RTS Announced for 2026

A new real-time strategy game (RTS) set in Westeros,Game of Thrones: War for Westeros,is in growth,PlaySide Studios and Warner Bros. revealed at Summer Game Fest. The game is scheduled to launch in 2026.
Described as a “classic, premium real-time strategy game” for PC, War for Westeros lets players command iconic houses such as Stark, Targaryen, and Lannister, or even the Night King, in a bid to conquer the Seven Kingdoms. The game will feature both a single-player campaign and multiplayer options, offering diverse gameplay experiences in this highly anticipated title.
Each faction in War for Westeros boasts unique heroes, armies, and mechanics. Players can deploy ground troops, cavalry, siege engines, giants, and dragons across familiar locations like the Wall and King’s Landing to achieve victory in this upcoming Game of Thrones RTS.
Game director Ryan McMahon saeid the goal of War for westeros is to allow players to experience the popular TV show firsthand. “This time, you’re not watching Game of Thrones, you’re playing it,” McMahon said.
What’s next
Warner Bros. has indicated a focus on major franchises including Game of Thrones, Harry Potter, Mortal Kombat, and DC in its future gaming ventures. PlaySide Studios, known for its work on licensed games like The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners and jumanji: Epic Run, is also set to release Mouse: P.I. For Hire, a cartoon-style shooter.
