Game On: Prime Video Saves Concord Episodes from the Cutting Floor Despite Sudden Cancellation
Amazon Prime’s Secret Level to Feature Cancelled Game Concord Despite Its Sudden Death
Amazon Prime Video’s upcoming video game-centric anthology series, Secret Level, will still feature an episode based on the recently cancelled live service hero shooter, Concord.
Last week, Sony announced that Concord would be shutting down just two weeks after its release on PlayStation 5 and PC. The main reason for this decision was due to poor sales and a decline in concurrent users. Despite this, a source close to the production of Secret Level has confirmed that there are no plans to reduce production of the episode featuring Concord.
Secret Level was first announced on the opening day of Gamescom in late August and generated considerable hype among gamers. The series will feature animated episodes based on some of the biggest franchises in gaming, including Warhammer 40,000, Mega Man, God of War, and Armored Core. The episode featuring Concord was likely included in the lineup due to the game’s initial hype and anticipation.
Concord was first announced last year and was previously released in May. However, the game’s development period, which began in 2016, coincided with the release of Activision Blizzard’s highly coveted hero shooter, Overwatch. This may have contributed to the game’s poor sales and decline in popularity.
Despite the cancellation of Concord, gamers can still look forward to the episode featuring the game when Secret Level premieres on December 10th.
Secret Level is an animated anthology series that will feature episodes based on various video game franchises. The series is set to premiere on Amazon Prime Video on December 10th.
