Gangnam-gu Implements IoT-Based Noise Monitoring for Large Construction Sites

Gangnam-gu has implemented a constant noise management system based on the Internet of Things (IoT) to address environmental concerns at major construction sites within the district. According to reporting from Public Times, the initiative targets 10 specific locations to mitigate the impact of construction noise on the surrounding urban environment.

The district office, led by Mayor Cho Seong-myeong, selected the 10 sites based on two primary criteria. The system is being deployed at large-scale construction projects with a total floor area exceeding 10,000 square meters, as well as at sites that have been the subject of repeated and chronic noise complaints from local residents.

By utilizing IoT technology, the district aims to maintain continuous monitoring of noise levels, allowing for more efficient management and a quicker response to noise violations. This technological approach is intended to reduce the frequency of civil complaints and ensure that construction activities adhere to environmental regulations in the densely populated area of Seoul.
