‘Gangs of London’ Stars Prep for Ultra-Violence in Unique ways

The stars of “Gangs of london” are revealing their distinct approaches to handling the show’s intense scenes. Ṣọpẹ́ Dìrísù, who embodies Elliot Finch, a cop navigating London’s criminal underworld, and Narges Rashidi, portraying Kurdish gang leader Lale, shared their preparation methods at the Monte-carlo TV Festival. The Pulse Films production, airing on Sky in the U.K. and AMC in the U.S., is known for its violence and complex storylines.The current season focuses on the fallout from a tainted cocaine shipment.
Rashidi relies on high energy to get into character. “I scream,” Rashidi said.”I run around a lot to get my adrenaline very high… That realy helps me. It’s actually a very technical thing.”
Dìrísù, however, prefers a quieter approach. “I’ll disappear and then you’ll only see me appear when it’s like: ‘Okay, we’re ready,’” he said. “I’ll go hide in the corner somewhere, or go for a walk, because sets can be very noisy places. I’ll take duty to take myself away and maintain the zone or atmosphere that I need.”
