Quebec Minister Accuses Organized Crime of Using 14-Year-Old to Do Their ‘Dirty Work’
Quebec’s Public Security Minister Reacts to Reports of Teen’s Death Linked to Organized Crime
Quebec’s public security minister, François Bonardel, has expressed shock over reports that the death of a 14-year-old boy southeast of Quebec City has links to organized crime. The body of the Montreal teenager was found near a Hells Angels bunker in Frampton, about 50 kilometers southeast of Quebec City.
The area has seen a surge in violence in recent months, with fighting over drug territory raging between Hells Angels and street gangs in the Quebec City area. Local police confirmed that the body of a male victim was found in the area on the night of September 16, and the cause of death was suspicious.
A man was arrested at the bunker but later released on a promise to appear in court. Bonardel believes it is “evil” for street gangs to recruit youth to “do dirty work.” He took to social media to express his concerns, stating that the use of minors in organized crime is unacceptable.
Quebec provincial police have announced plans to increase their presence in the community of about 1,300 people and implement measures to ease concerns among citizens. The police are working to ensure the safety and security of the community, particularly in light of the recent violence.
