Project Overview and Timelines
Officials in delémont are now informed about the schedule and process for the South Station special plan. The City Council received an update on thes aspects during a meeting held on Monday evening as a prelude to the legislative session of the Jura capital.
The Municipal Council envisions a participatory process involving landowners, residents, associations, the City Council, and the Canton of Jura. Executive validation for public submission of the special plan is anticipated by the end of August 2026. Formal adoption by the legislature is scheduled for mid-December 2026, followed by submission to the Canton of jura.
Phased Development of the Gare Sud District
The future Gare sud district will be developed in several stages. Rehabilitation of SAFED land for a circular economy zone is already underway, alongside the construction of Raiffeisen Parc, which will replace the Croisée des Loisirs.
A new site for the Jura Hospital (H-JU) is expected within the next seven years and will serve as the central component and catalyst for the Gare Sud district. Long-term plans, extending beyond ten years, include redefining the use of MParc and addressing housing needs.
Supporting Infrastructure and Considerations
The Municipal Council is actively seeking a replacement for the Exhibition Hall, which will be demolished to make way for the new hospital. A potential location for a new hall is being considered within the MParc area, though this is a long-term project.
Parking accommodations are planned with 500 spaces in silos on the site of the current Cinémont car park. Additional improvements include the creation of a meeting area on rue Emile-Boéchat, redevelopment of the underpass, a review of the new CFF footbridge project, and optimization of the two roundabouts on the Route de Moutier.
