Rafah, 07/27/2025 – In a significant progress concerning the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip, Israel announced a daily “tactical pause” on military activity to facilitate the passage of humanitarian aid. The announcement, made by Israeli troops via X,aims to streamline the delivery of essential supplies into the besieged territory.
Dozens of humanitarian aid trucks crossed the Egyptian border at Rafah on Sunday, heading towards the Gaza Strip. Official Egyptian sources confirmed to EFE that these trucks first passed through Israeli territory for inspection before entering Gaza. This process occurred on a day marked by Israel’s declaration of a “tactical pause” in its military operations.
the pause is reportedly set to be implemented in specific areas, excluding active combat zones. “The pause will be applied in the DONE areas are not operating: to the Mawasi, deir al Balah and the city of Gaza, and will continue daily until new notice,” the Israeli troops stated in their announcement.
Deadly Consequences of Aid Delays
however, the delimitation of these areas has already led to tragic consequences. In the early hours of Sunday morning, seven people were killed and twelve wounded in the city of Beit Lahia. These individuals were reportedly waiting for aid trucks to arrive in an area where Israel had not established a military truce.
Aid Releases: A Practice Under scrutiny
The practice of pausing military operations for aid delivery, implemented by Israel this past weekend, has been employed previously. This measure has drawn criticism from humanitarian organizations. These groups have raised concerns about the risks associated with air-dropping aid, which can lead to dangerous stampedes among the desperate population. furthermore, thay argue that such measures are insufficient to address the severe shortages plaguing the enclave.
According to a United Nations statement, over 250 humanitarian aid trucks were unloaded this week alone. These additions bring the total number of trucks distributed with aid to approximately 600, with hundreds more reportedly waiting at crossings to be collected by the UN and other organizations.
Increased Water Supply for Gaza Residents
In another notable development, an electric line has been connected from Israel to a desalination plant in Gaza. This initiative is expected to considerably increase the water supply, raising it from 2,000 to 20,000 cubic meters per day. This enhancement is projected to benefit approximately 900,000 residents in the Gaza Strip.
The Israel defense Forces (IDF) maintain that a famine situation does not exist in Gaza, asserting that the distribution of aid is the duty of the UN and international organizations. In this context, these entities are urging for improved efficiency in aid delivery and measures to prevent supplies from falling into the hands of Hamas.
The Israeli army further emphasized that its military operations remain active, with the stated objectives of releasing hostages and dismantling the Hamas terrorist organization, both above ground and within its extensive network of underground tunnels.
