President donald Trump may soon announce a ceasefire in Gaza as part of an agreement involving the release of Israeli hostages, according to multiple sources. Trump said Sunday he anticipates “good news” from Hamas regarding Gaza and expressed a desire to halt the fighting as quickly as possible.
Meanwhile, violence continues in the region. The Palestinian Civil Protection reported that at least 33 people died and over 60 were wounded in an Israeli army bombing of the Fahmi Aljarjaoui Institute, a school in Gaza City’s Aldaraj district. Separately, 19 people were reportedly killed in an Israeli strike on a family home in Jabalia, northern Gaza Strip, according to Mahmud Bassal, a Civil Protection spokesman.
The Israeli army stated that the targeted school housed “high-level terrorists” operating within a Hamas and Islamic Jihad command center. The IDF said the center was used to plan and collect information for attacks against israeli civilians and troops.
