Gaza Airstrike Kills Nine Children; Doctor’s Family Devastated

An Israeli airstrike in Khan Younis on friday killed nine children,all members of the family of Dr. Alaa al-Najjar, a pediatrician working at al-Tahrir Hospital in Gaza. The tragic loss has further intensified international pressure on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to alter course in the region amid a rising death toll.
Hospital officials confirmed the deaths of Yahya, 12; Eve, 9; Rival, 5; Sadeen, 3; Rakan, 10; Ruslan, 7; Jibran, 8; Luqman, 2; and Sedar, who was not yet 1 year old. Sedar’s remains were never recovered, according to civil defense workers.
One of al-Najjar’s children and her husband,also a physician,survived the strike with injuries. Dr. Graeme Groom, a British surgeon at the hospital, said he operated on 11-year-old Adam.
The Israeli military stated its aircraft targeted “suspects who were identified operating from a structure adjacent to IDF troops” in Khan younis, adding that it evacuated civilians from the area. The military also said it is reviewing the claim regarding harm to uninvolved civilians.
Netanyahu recently reaffirmed his commitment to gaining “full control” of the Gaza Strip. He stated the only way the assault will end is if “Gaza is totally disarmed; and we carry out the Trump plan,” referring to President Donald Trump’s vision to redevelop the territory.
