Grand Canyon University (GCU) is gearing up for a significant event as they head to Spokane, Washington, to compete in the 2025 Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Indoor Track and Field Championships. Flood emphasized the competitive nature of the event, stating that both teams will have to fight for every point. “Both teams know that no one is going to just hand them anything and that they are going to have to fight for every point they get,” he said. “As always, we will have to battle in every single event to the best of our abilities and let the games committee keep track of the team scores.”

GCU’s men have a storied history, having claimed seven consecutive indoor championships before Southern Utah broke the streak last season. The women’s team, however, successfully claimed the program’s sixth women’s indoor title.

The Lopes traveled to Spokane on Wednesday and will have time to familiarize themselves with the facility on Thursday. Events begin at 10 a.m. (Phoenix time) on Friday and are scheduled to conclude around 8 p.m. (Phoenix time) on Saturday, where two new WAC champions will be officially crowned.

Flood, who has led GCU to 23 WAC Championships between men’s and women’s indoor and outdoor events, expressed his hope for another successful outing. “Hopefully, if it’s God’s will, we will be traveling back home with some additional hardware that I’ll try my best to find some additional spots somewhere in my office,” he said.
