google Streamlines Gemini AI Branding Strategy
Updated June 13,2025
Google is consolidating its Gemini AI service brands, eliminating the “Gemini Pro” and “Gemini Ultra” designations, according to 9to5Google. This follows the earlier discontinuation of the ”Gemini Advanced” brand around Google I/O 2025.
Instead of multiple versions, Google will now market its AI assistant simply as “Gemini,” offered in Free, Pro, and Ultra tiers. The change aims to provide clarity by presenting a unified AI strategy.
Users of the Gemini AI assistant should see the branding updates reflected in their apps soon. While the shift may initially cause some confusion, the company anticipates it will ultimately simplify the user experience.
In a related move, Google has also dropped the “NotebookLM Plus” name, opting for “NotebookLM,” which will be available in the Pro and Ultra tiers.
