Updated June 16, 2025
Google’s Gemini app, as of May 2025, provides users with a range of AI capabilities through three distinct tiers: a free version, Google AI Pro at $19.99 monthly (including 2 TB storage), and Google Ultra for $249.99 per month, which unlocks cutting-edge features.
The free tier provides general access to Gemini 2.5 Flash, the default model. Free users also have limited access to Gemini 2.5 Pro (preview), designed for reasoning, math, and coding tasks. google AI Pro subscribers enjoy expanded access to the 2.5 Pro (preview),capped at 100 queries daily.Google explains that model limits are in place to manage capacity, allowing users to switch models if thay hit a limit.
Google ultra subscribers receive the highest access to 2.5 Pro (preview). The company plans to roll out a 2.5 Pro Deep Think mode for Ultra subscribers, along with an upcoming Agent Mode capability.
Deep Research and Media Generation
Gemini’s Deep Research feature allows users to formulate a multi-point research plan, which Gemini then executes by searching the web, analyzing data, and compiling a report. As of Google I/O 2025, users can upload files and images to Deep Research, combining personal knowledge with public data.
All users have general access to image generation, including images with people. The Gemini app now uses Imagen 4,enhancing image quality, detail, and typography. Native image editing is also available, enabling users to refine images via text prompts.
Video generation capabilities vary by tier. Free users do not have access. Google AI Pro subscribers can generate three 8-second, 720p clips daily using I see 3 fast, followed by Veo 2.Google Ultra subscribers benefit from I see 3, which produces clips with sound effects and noises.
Scheduled Actions
Google is gradually introducing Scheduled Actions, allowing users to schedule predefined prompts to run at specific times or after certain events. Users can have 10 active scheduled actions at any time and will receive a mobile notification with the response after the prompt runs.
what’s next
Google plans to continue expanding Gemini’s capabilities, with a focus on enhanced AI models, deeper research tools, and improved media generation features across all subscription tiers.
